New Magento Extension, a Gateway to China

China – a country with more than 1.3 billion people, a place with an amazing culture and tradition, 14 huge cities, 23 provinces, and a whopping 56 ethnic groups. What a market to tap into, right?

Well, Western retailers haven’t been quite successful in their efforts to meet the grade in this unique environment.

The reasons why are numerous and range from its specific culture and unique local market to extremely low levels of brand loyalty. Additionally, consumers rely solely on WeChat Pay and Alipay, and not just when they are buying from China. Chinese shoppers stick to their ways even when they’re shopping online in Europe.

But, what if there was an easier way to start selling your products to the Chinese? Luckily, now there is a way to integrate these widely-used apps via Magento 2.

JGOO Payment Gateway, the right thing for Chinese shoppers

Best Response Media, as a Magento development agency,  has worked hard to find a way to facilitate payments from Chinese customers on Magento 2 websites. As the fruit of this effort, we have developed a payment gateway for JGOO.

Considering that there are a great number of clients who would benefit from an integration of this kind, we have come up with a module that allows retailers to market and sell to customers based in China.

Thanks to this solution, consumers now have a new payment method displayed in the checkout (both for WeChat and Alipay). When a QR code appears, the customers need to scan with the app as a way to confirm the payment.

Finally, once the payment is cleared, the customer is directed back to the checkout/order confirmation page.

There are multiple advantages to this module:

  • It’s very easy to set up.
  • The module offers 24/7 operational support.
  • It offers lower rates compared to international credit cards
  • There are no chargeback risks due to the encrypted payment system.

In addition, the transaction management is smooth since transaction records are stored safely in JGOO’s transaction management portal. This, in turn, provides customers with easy access to the details of each and every payment.

The orphan transaction report stores a record of unsuccessful transactions, allowing merchants to follow up with customers and avoid missed sales.

In addition, you can customise the QR code pop-up title, description, the name of each payment method, logo, and CTA (call-to-action) text.

These are just some of the benefits of this great payment gateway to China.

How does the checkout look for Chinese customers?

The checkout process is quite simple and easy to understand, which will likely increase the chances of conversion.

  1.     Payment options (WeChat and Alipay) show up right at the checkout.
  2.     Upon starting the checkout process, customers type in their credentials. These details are needed for obtaining API access tokens.
  3.     Next, customers should choose one of the given options after which the order is submitted.
  4.     Upon the request, a QR code appears on the screen.
  5.     Customers scan the QR code displayed on the screen using the app installed on their device.
  6.     Then, the transaction carries on within a customer’s app (WeChat or Alipay).
  7.     As soon as the transaction is complete, customers are directed to the Magento order confirmation page.

Is this payment gateway safe?

Since the QR codes used to finalise transactions are generated through JGOO’s secure API, security should not be a major concern.

The extension provides customer cart information to the API to generate each code. And, once the payment is complete, the transaction ID is sent back to the Magento store to reference the transaction.

Then, customers get redirected to the order success page, while the order information and the JGOO transaction ID get stored safely.

There is no way for a customer to get redirected to an external page since the QR code only appears in the Magento checkout. The code is generated through a server-to-server call by utilising JGOO’s API (which then uses WeChat/Alipay APIs).

Of course, payment information sent back to customers through their apps and the merchant’s Magento store never comes in contact with the payment data.

What this means is that customer payment info isn’t stored anywhere, especially not on the Magento server. Therefore, this way of purchase is the safest payment method in China.

How can I get this extension?

All you need is a JGOO Pay merchant account, as well as additional accounts with WeChat Pay and Alipay. The account is also free. You will be charged a small percentage per transaction once you start accepting payments from WeChat Pay and Alipay.

The extension is available on Magento Marketplace. If you need any help or a few additional information, just get in touch with JGOO.

This amazing extension has one last feature that is sure to make you happy.

You guessed it is free of charge!
